The audio launch of Ilaignan, Kalaignar's 75th film as story, screenplay and dialogue writer, was a grand affair at Sathyam cinemas on Sunday (December 5).
The audio was released by the CM and received by none other than Superstar Rajnikanth himself.
The film is produced by S Martin and stars lyricist Pa Vijay in the screen adaptation of one of Kalaignar's earlier works, which was based on a Russian novel.
The role of the mother called Valliammai, an important one, is played by Khushboo who was also present at the function. She said that she was indeed lucky to be reciting the CM's dialogues and that it gave her more pleasure than the first time she saw herself on screen.
For Pa Vijay the film is a dream come true since he gets to recite dialogues by the Kalaignar himself. 'On the first day I could not move when he came to the sets and said ‘action,'' recalled Vijay.
Suman who has done a major role in the film too, expressed a similar joy. 'In my 34 years in the industry, this film is a unique experience for me since I get to mouth dialogues by the Kalaignar.'
The film's music has been composed by Vidyasagar. And it's the 50th film for director Suresh Krishna who is in the 25th year of his career.
Others present at the glittering function were deputy CM Stalin, Kanimozhi MP, and political big wigs. Also seen were Namitha, Meera Jasmine and Ramya Nambeesan who star in the film. Lyricist's Vaali and Vairamuthu were all praise for the CM's long stint as a writer.
Rajini too was all praise for the CM, Pa Vijay and Suresh Krishna. 'Performers like me can age, but the power of the pen that the Kalaingar has can never grow old,' said the Superstar.
The film's trailer and three songs were showcased at the function. Later, mementoes were presented to the dignitaries.
A highlight of the film is the giant ship created by art director Thota Tharani at Binny mills. The film is slated for a Pongal release.
